We are excited to announce that the host organizations of FinnCERES and the Finnish UNITE Flagship have signed a collaboration agreement. With this collaboration, we seek to accelerate sustainable innovations on forest and bio-based materials and solutions through joint research, workshops and promoting science-based policies.
Together with FinnCERES, UNITE aims to depict a holistic view of sustainable and economic use of forest resources. The two flagships will cover the full chain from more accurate and better available forest data to various forest-based applications, novel biomaterials as well as services enhanced by gamification.
The FinnCERES Flagship is a competence centre with the mission to harness the natural properties of lignocellulose to create new sustainable materials. Partners in FinnCERES are Aalto University and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. Both flagships are funded by Academy of Finland Finnish Flagship Programme.
This collaboration will be broadened via the recently launched Boreal Alliance network. By joining forces, the Boreal Alliance partners strive to support novel sustainable bio-based materials and solutions, for example, via knowledge exchange, joint events, and science-based policies.
